If I may ask: What factor was holding you back on creating an account at Cara? Do they feed your art to their AI, just like Twitter & DeviantArt, or is it just 'one more account to take care off' that demotivated you? Or do they smell? ;p

Either way, it's best for an artist to upload to multiple places. _Never_ put all your eggs in one basket.

Thanks for the question!

No, Cara doesn't feed your posts to AI. In fact, AI art isn't allowed on Cara at all. Of course, that doesn't stop bad actors from scraping images on their own, but that's another story entirely. There's not much you can do to stop that. Some people put Glaze filters over their work, but IMO that just ends up desecrating the art.

It's just that I never really got around to setting up my Cara account until now. It was mainly just the "one more account to take care of" thing, yes. That, plus I wanted to see how stable Cara would be. Right now, it looks like a pretty solid platform to post your work. So, if you're on the fence about joining Cara, I'd say go for it.

The #1 thing to keep in mind: Cara is ONLY an art platform, not a general-purpose social media platform like Instagram and Twitter. People who aren't artists have no reason to join Cara, so you won't get the same popularity and audience that you'd get on Instagram. If you're fine with that, that's cool! But, if you were expecting Cara to be an "Instagram killer," that's not what it is. For that reason, I definitely would NOT recommend abandoning Instagram and making Cara your main platform. You'd just be cutting off all of your followers who aren't artists.

But yeah, I figured it'd just be nice to have another place to post my art. Like you said, you don't want to keep all of your eggs in one basket. Heck, that's part of why I joined Newgrounds. Again, thank you for the inquiry. If you're on the fence about joining Cara, there's no harm in trying it out. :)

Thank you so much for that detailed and well-worded answer.
I now know who to recommend it to 'and' should I ever get into creating the kind of art they would host, I'd consider them. :)

You're welcome! Glad I could help. :)
